Maternity Clothes: Not yet, but I will need them soon. I can feel it!
Stretch Marks: None from THIS pregnancy!
Sleep: Fine, as long as Anna Kate doesn’t kick me off the bed.
Baby Movement: Not yet.
Food Cravings: Fresh vegetables, pizza, and Doritos
What I Miss: Soft drinks
Mom-to-Be: Nausea has finally started to improve. I am still extremely tired. I am showing a little more than I did at 12 weeks with Anna Kate.
Looking Forward To: Warm weather so that I can start walking with Anna Kate. (I am repeating this mantra: “I will not let this pregnancies weight get away from me”
Milestones:Sweet baby now measures about 2.5 inches from crown to rump and weighs between three-tenths of an ounce and half an ounce. It is fully formed, from tooth buds to toenails, and baby's job now is to continue getting larger and stronger for the rest of your pregnancy. With the most critical development behind the baby, the chance of miscarriage drops considerably after this week. Your baby's reproductive organs also develop, but the baby's gender is difficult to distinguish on ultrasound.
Anna Kate started to get a runny nose on Saturday (again, I apologize Elena!). When we woke up on Sunday morning she felt worse and her nose was worse. So, we didn't go to Sunday School or church. We did have to get up and at em' though because Kyle's grandaddy (Daddy Gaines) turned 70 years old on Thursday and the whole family got together to celebrate on Sunday. Anna Kate seemed to be feeling a little better. We spent a little time outside. When we were getting ready to head home everyone in the family kept saying that they thought that she had a fever. I did too, but I didn't have a thermometer to check so we just wanted until we got home to check. Can you guess what it was? When we checked under her arm it was 101 degrees . Well you're supposed to add a degree when you take it under the arm. So we were working with a 102 degree fever. Anna Kate had fallen asleep on the way home so we just held her mouth open and gave her the tylenol. I wish y'all could have seen her face every now and them trying to get it off of her tongue. Even in her time of sickness, it was hilarious and I couldn't help but laugh.
Later after she woke up from a 2 and a half hour nap weran over to see Grammy and Pops (also we went over to see the deer that Kyle killed and the place where they "clean the deer is right behind Grammy and Pops' house). Anna Kate hadn't wanted to eat or drink much during the day. When we got over to their house, it was like a switch flipped and she drank almost a whole cup of tea and ate tons of crackers. Her daddy let her have a few popsicles too. He says that they always made him feel better so she should get them too.
When we got to their house AK saw her "big girl panties" and her gown and HAD to have them on (even if it was over her other clothes!).
Grammy loving on Anna Kate. She needed it!
Anna Kate seems to be doing better this morning. Kyle talked to Nana and Daddy Gaines and they said that they don't think that she has had a fever today. Shewww. That makes a working momma feel a little better. All I wanted to do was stay in my p.j.'s with her all day today. Oh well...
This is going to be a very busy rest of the week and weekend. I spent Wednesday in the bed with a virus, which was NO FUN! However, Anna Kate still went to the sitter’s house. Do you know what that means? In between being sick, I got an entire day of uninterrupted sleep. I have to say, if having a virus is what it takes to get some rest I’ll take it. I feel better today than I have in a while. Kyle asked me last night if I was going to be able to sleep during the night because I had slept all day. I answered with a loud heck yes! I was asleep by 9:00p.m. and slept until Anna Kate woke me up to go get her from her crib.
However, my being sick yesterday was a setback for the shower gift preparations. I’m not going to have all of the things that I wanted to do for both sweet babies done, but I guess I could save some for later. I was planning on working on stuff tonight, but it is Kyle’s granddaddy’s birthday today and we are going to see them in Daviston. SO… I probably won’t be able to work on anything tonight. Then tomorrow night is Senior night for basketball and the dedication of Lineville’s basketball court to Uncle Steve, so guess where I’ll be.
Here’s a picture of Anna Kate playing “Where’s Kate? There she is!” after bath time.
The last few days have been pretty hum drum. Saturday we spent hanging out at Grammy and Pops' house sewing/embroidering presents for Allison and Krystal's shower next weekend. (yes I know, I'm a little behind) Saturday night we attended a going away party for some of our sweet friends, Nelson and Abby Bauer. It was a blast; however, I am certainly glad I'm an old married woman because I was ready to be back in my bed before we even got home.
Sunday we went to church and spent the afternoon grocery shopping (which we hadn't been in about a month and a half). I was in desperate need of facewash so I put my foot down. That afternoon Kyle went in to work an extra 1/2 a shift and Anna Kate and I went and had supper with Grammy and Pops, hung out for a minute, and then we went home and I gave in. I'll say it again...I GAVE IN. I am exhausted. When I was pregnant with Anna Kate I was going to bed at 7:00 p.m. during my first 1 and 1/2 trimesters. With this pregnancy, I'm lucky to get in bed by 9:30 p.m. This is mostly due to me rocking Anna Kate to sleep so that she will sleep in her own crib. I know that rocking to sleep isn't ideal, but it is what it is. Well, the last 2 nights I have given in. I have brought Anna Kate into the bed with me and we have happily drifted off to sleep both nights at 8:30 p.m. I know what you're all thinking, "LaRae you should be ashamed of yourself", or "You are starting very bad habits". I say to you, I CAN'T HELP IT! I am so exhausted that I fall asleep at work sometimes...sitting up.
So if you do not agree with my decision here is what I have to say: I'll let you deal with Anna Kate at night,I'm going to sleep.
Oh, Monday my mom went to pick up Anna Kate and this is what I came home to find:
"Pants on my head! Pants on my head! Lookin' like a fool with my pants on my head!"
Several weeks ago Kyle and I received some very exciting news. We kept it to ourselves for a while, eventually telling family and a few friends.
We're ready to share the news...
I am 10 weeks and 6 days. Baby Jackson is due August 14, 2011.
This pregnancy is flying by. I can't believe that we will be able to find out what this sweet baby is in about 5 weeks. Maybe it's because I know what to expect now. I don't really know why. At any rate, we are super excited about Anna Kate getting a little brother or sister. She doesn't really understand much though. We've been taking her babies and telling her to hold them and love them; pointing at my tummy and telling her that a baby is in there and when it gets here she will have to love it and "help" take care of it. I'll let you all know how she takes a new baby in her house that never leaves!
Last night I was giving Anna Kate her evening bottle (we’re going to stop it soon) and just staring at her in between watching NCIS. Bottle time is one of the rare moments when Anna Kate will sit still for an extended period of time. She started drifting off to sleep but was still playing with my hair. I love this time of day. As much as I complain about it being so late and that I am THE ONLY ONE who can get her to sleep, when it’s a good night and she goes right to sleep I really appreciate her wanting me.
So I put her in her crib and she settled in. In the middle of the night, like always, she woke up to come and get in the bed with mommy and daddy. I went to get her, brought her back, and we went to sleep as she played with my hair. Sometime between then and 5:00 a.m. I woke up to Anna Kate sitting straight up in the bed facing me; like she had been waiting for me to wake up. I picked her up and settled her back into our pillow, and then it happens. Anna Kate took her sweet little hand on my cheek, gave me a sweet kiss, and rolled over and went to sleep. I am almost bursting into tears as I type this.
I know that she is sometimes ornery and ill. Sometimes she bites and hits. She is STUBBORN (my mom says just like me). However, in moments like that you forget all the bad. You also forget all about the miserable end of the pregnancy and childbirth.
We had an eventful/busy weekend. We started off by heading to Lineville to watch Uncle Buddy play basketball in the Clay-Cleburne Challenge. We had a fun night with the Aggies taking down the Ranburne Bulldogs a lot to a little (I don’t remember the exact score.) Anna Kate and I spent the night with Dranmama and Dranda. I think that AK had a blast.
We woke up early the next morning because we had a new adventure for the day. We (along with several of our Aunties) headed to Wetumpka to see Aunt Krystal Burton’s new house and have our girl’s get together. We toured Aunt Krystal’s house. It was beautiful. We saw the beginnings of Baby MaKenna’s room. We cannot wait for her to get here! (We can’t wait for Aunt Alli’s sweet girl Addison to get here either!) Even with all of the fun that was had, let me take a moment to tell everyone how much we missed Aunt Elena and baby Reese!!! Anna Kate was so sad that she cried. However, we hope to see them very soon and catch up.
Anna Kate on the way to Wetumpka. (She had to have my headband)
Later Saturday night after we returned to Lineville, we went to watch Uncle Buddy play ball against those stinkin’ panthers. We won. It was also a lot to a little. Buddy did a phenomenal job (the rest of the Aggies were amazing as well). I know that y’all probably get tired of hearing me talk about ballgame after ball game, but it’s what I do.
Sitting like a big girl at the basketball game.
Sunday we woke up and headed to Sunday school and Church. (By the way, this is for Alli, we have been studying Revelation in Sunday School. I thought that it was funny that your little 3 or is it 5 year olds want to read out of it all the time and that my class has been for about 2 months.) Anna Kate loves going to Sunday school and seeing Mrs. Betty and Mrs. Jessica.
After Church we headed to the Auburn Network’s Bridal Show at the Marriott at Grand National. Let me tell you something, I am so glad that I’m already married and that I didn’t do any of that bridal show stuff when I got married. Grammy, Aunt Katie, Anna Kate, and I all loaded up and headed to the show. When we got there Grammy got us all registered and we headed in to see what all the vendors had to offer. I think that it was a little disappointing for Katie because the one thing that she really needed to see and talk to someone about, flowers, there were no vendors there. We saw just about all we needed to see in around 30 minutes. I felt bad for Anna Kate; we had to wait about another hour and a half to see if Aunt Katie won anything. By the end of the show, she was falling hard off the sugar rush that the shows food vendors had provided. She was also a little ill because we wouldn’t put her down and let her walk alone. Anna Kate conked out almost immediately after being wrangled into her seat. When we returned home everyone was tired. We didn’t do much after that.
Monday was a lazy day compared to the rest of the weekend. Anna Kate and I woke up late, hung out in our pajamas and ate breakfast. We cleaned the house a little bit. The cleaning resulted in Anna Kate finding her hat and putting it on. I know that is probably not a significant fact to anyone else; however, Anna Kate is like a little lightning bolt. I looked in on her one minute and she was hatless, the next minute I look up and there is a black streak running through the living room. I tried to get her to let me take her picture. This hardly ever works because when she sees a camera she wants to hold it. We hung out at Grammy and Pops’ house for a while before returning home and beginning out nightly “Anna Kate go to sleep” rituals.
Anna Kate and Pops playing their new game.
(Pops puts the ball in his mouth, Anna Kate presses the "button" or his nose, and the ball shoots out)
Anna Kate found her old chair that she used to sit on the counter and eat in. She got too tall to sit on the counter, but yesterday she HAD to eat in the chair.
Before the winter storm of early 2011, my little family made a trip to the town that shall remain nameless (aka *shland) to watch the Lineville Aggies beat thepanthers. Anna Kate always has a great time at the games. She hangs out with her grandparents and whoever else is lucky enough to be around the loud little monkey. I am entertained by her and then I scream at the team for not rebounding or putting forth enough effort. (Ahhh…childhood memories)
I love watching my boys play. Traveling to Jesse’s ballgames has been my hobby ever since he started playing t-ball. I am trying to be in the moment and enjoy watching him play during his Senior year; instead of doing what I really want to do, which is sob into my pillow. What in the world am I going to do after he graduates? I’ll have a few years at least before Anna Kate begins some sort of organized team/sport/group.
Stop…stop…just enjoy it. (sorry I needed a moment.)
I don’t know if I’m going to be able to take this whole growing up thing. First she wanted a bow in her hair. Then she wanted her fingernails painted. Next she begged for lipstick (chap-stick). What’s next; she’s driving, going to college?
This is moving way too fast! I need to sit down for a minute before I have a panic attack! Anna Kate has started walking around holding a phone to her ear and basically talking to herself. Would it be wrong of me to jerk the phone out of her hand and tell her that she’s much too young for this? (Yes, yes it would.)
She also thinks that she is just like the big girls. She has a few “older” girl friends. At the firefighter Christmas party Anslee Heard and Whitney Shiver wanted Anna Kate to play with them as soon as we arrived. She was a little intimidated by all of the people that were there so she stayed with Mommy to begin with. After a while she realized that she knew all of the people that were in the room and she made her rounds. Her first stop was sitting at the big girl table. I looked over at the big girl table at my not so little baby and teared up. I hadn’t prepared myself for this.
She also had to sit in her own chair and she just loved the Christmas tree that was in the room.
Let's not even talk about boys! She had to hug Max!
If I can’t handle this, what sort of nervous breakdown am I going to have when she tries to move out one day? Oh man…
Christmas Break. What can I say…I need a vacation from my vacation. Since we were getting to sleep a little late, Anna Kate decided to change her night sleeping habits. This change included several late nights and Mommy and Daddy not being able to go to bed because princess had to stay up and play. It got progressively worse throughout the break, resulting in a change in our nap routine. We began limiting to one nap a day and the little monkey started getting tired earlier (THANK GOODNESS!).
Other than sleep troubles, the Christmas break was wonderful. I didn’t get much done that I needed to, except the mountain of laundry I had let pile up. However, I spent a TON of time playing with Anna Kate. It was worth it. We had a blast, even though I am so exhausted now. I’ll have a more in depth look at Christmas later on, but for now I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite shots from Christmas 2010.
Anna Kate decided to try on Mommy's new lip stick. I think it goes great with her skin tone!
She was relaxing in her chair from Uncle Steve and Aunt Di
"Bawls! Momma, comere, bawls!" (As she waves me toward her with her precious little hand)
She was in her Barbie Jeep and her daddy pressed the accelerator. She was out of that jeep and crying!
Dranda decided that it was time to play.
If you'll notice, there's a bulge in her mouth. This tiny bulge is one of an untold amount of pieces of candy (a Hershey Kiss to be exact) that princess ate over the Christmas Holiday.
I'm from the small town of Lineville, AL. Now I'm raising my small town chicks Anna Kate and Emmalee in the same charmed way. My husband Kyle and I have been married for six years and counting. We are loving our life in the country.
