My very talented (and sweet) cousin Jerri Lynne Hammond recently offered to shoot maternity pictures for us. I was thrilled. It was something that I didn't have professionally done with Anna Kate and I later regretted. We shot yesterday afternoon, in the BLAZING sun! While Jerri Lynne made it as fun as possible, it was not a pleasant experience for this hormonal pregnant girl. Kyle was also "thrilled" about the experience. (insert dripping sarcasm here) He complained more than AK did! All in all though, I think that it went really well. It is definately something that I am glad we decided to have done. JL put up a few of the shots, from what I've seen so far I am very pleased! They are truly my style!
Notice how incredibly umcomfortable Kyle is!
(He was that way the whole time!)

Thanks Jerri Lynne for sharing your amazing talents with us! We love you!
Not only have I been growing a tiny human being (that’s tiring enough!), we have had probably one of the busiest summers of my life! Good news though! WE MADE IT! From April until the end of July I have participated in 7 weddings, given and received multiple showers, and many family functions. No joke, I did not have a weekend from April 30th on that did not have some sort of social engagement. Everyone around me kept saying that I have got to learn to tell people no. Anyone that knows me, however, knows that it’s not in my nature to disappoint. Plus, who in the world could tell some of their best friends no? Not me! I knew at the beginning that of this summer journey that it would be tiring, but I am so proud of my family for being troopers throughout it.
With only 2 ½ weeks until baby Emmalee is due, we’re winding down our summer excursion with a trip to Oxford on Friday for our bi-monthly get together with the girls and Saturday Kyle’s 10 year High School Reunion. After that, we have nothing planned. That doesn’t mean that something won’t come up though! I’m hoping to sneak a couple of naps in before Emmalee makes her big debut! We’ll see!
In between our busy weekends, we have been able to sneak in a little fun for Miss Anna Kate! Here’s what she’s been up to!
Participating in Uncle Buddy's High School Graduation!
Spending a little time with Aunt Casey before she departed for the Big Apple
Playing with Daddy at the beach
Hanging out with Mommmy at the beach
Being completely exhausted from all of the stuff we've had to do!
Dancing and attending beautiful weddings of sweet friends.
Celebrating her birthday on her birthday.
Celebrating her birthday at a sweet birthday bash!
Swimming with Daddy
Practicing her Rebel Cheers
Learning to drive (It's never too early!)
Learning to use an iPhone on her way to Aunt Katie's Bridesmaid's Luncheon
Finally after 6 months being brave enough to ride in her Jeep
Helping Mommy prepare for baby sisser by testing out her seat
Does this need a caption?
Learning what not to do with her Magnadoodle pen
Terrorizing her friend Reese and loving every minute of it!
Playing with Uncle Buddy
Hanging out by the pool
Perfecting her "Say Cheese" smile
Last but not least, growing a head full of hair that we can officially pull up into a ponytail!
Over the last month and a half we have been extremely blessed by our friends, family, and co-workers with baby gifts. We may never have to buy a diaper for Sweet Emmalee! Our living room looked like the diaper aisle at Wal-Mart for about 3 weeks. (3 weeks…that little tidbit doesn’t scream laziness does it? I prefer to think that we were basking in the “Our baby is coming” excitement!)
Anna Kate just may LOVE baby Reese!

On a side note, Anna Kate is getting very excited about the arrival of her “baby sisser”.She tells us, “We need to go get her right now”. Kyle and I tell her that she’s with us, she just isn’t out of mommy’s tummy yet; to which AK replies, “Come out now baby sisser”. She says that she’s going to hold her “right here” (pointing to her right shoulder) and that Emmalee is going to cry all the time. Only 2 ½ weeks until Emmalee is due to arrive…
Thursdays and Fridays this summer Anna Kate has had the opportunity to hang out with my parents in Lineville since Dranmama is out for the summer. I was basically told at the beginning of summer that AK WOULD be spending every Thursday and Friday (including Thursday night) with Dranmama and Drandaddy whether I liked it or not. Well it turns out that it has been such a blessing. I have been able to accomplish many many things (i.e. craft projects and shower decor preparation) on my lone Thursday nights. I can get a TON done when Kyle is at work too. (I sure do miss them though!)
This particular Thursday Dranmama decided that it would be fun if she and Anna Kate came to Auburn to have lunch with me. I tell you what, this was such a treat for me. I love having lunch with people. It is especially fun when those people include my sweet girl! (and Mom too!) She was in rare form yesterday. My mom swears that she is sensing that her life is about to change with Emmalee arriving. She ate in her own chair, but then wanted me to hold her and love on her for the rest of our lunch date. I was happy to meet her request!
After lunch they dropped me off back at my office. I don't know if it was the hormones or what, but as soon as I sat down at my desk I started crying. AK is growing up so fast, faster than I ever imagined possible. She is becoming such a smart and funny big girl. I am so thankful for her and for Emmalee too. We can't wait for Anna Kate to meet her sister. Will this sadness be twice as bad once she gets here?
Anna Kate’s 2nd Birthday“Big” Party was a big success I think! We had a wonderful time, although I’m quite sure I was running around like a CRAZY person most of the time. Anna Kate was so excited to see all of her friends and family. The theme for AK’s second party was “Anna Kate’s Sweet Shop”. I wanted the Candy Buffet to be outside so that it was easily accessed by all of the party goers, but the blistering sun and humidity prevented that. Kyle told me before the party started that we couldn’t put it out there because “those jelly beans are already sticking together when the candy is inside!” It’s still a mystery to me how he knew that about the jelly beans, psychic I guess.

AK had a blast swimming, eating “cream”, and opening presents. We had to open almost all of her presents after most of the guests had hit the road. It is extremely apparent that her friends already know her very well. Most presents consisted of books, bubbles, princess stuff, and baby dolls/accessories. Those are a few of her favorite things!
Make a wish!

Monday we celebrated the Independence Day with the fam in Lineville. We arrived at around 2:00 p.m. after cleaning up from AK's birthday party all morning. AK was napping when we got there so I got to stay inside (where it was cool!) for a little while. We had a great time seeing family and eating WONDERFUL food! (Good job Daddy and Momma!) AK finally awoke from her death like slumber after some poking and tickling from me, Uncle Steve, and her cousin Ensleigh. She then joined in the pool festivities with a few of her favorite guys!

We didn't stay up to watch any fireworks, Kyle and I both had to work the next day, and AK was SO tired that she fell asleep approximately 2.5 seconds after pulling out of the driveway. It was a wonderful weekend filled with celebration of AK and country. Could it get any better? (Maybe if I had gotten a nap!)
I'm from the small town of Lineville, AL. Now I'm raising my small town chicks Anna Kate and Emmalee in the same charmed way. My husband Kyle and I have been married for six years and counting. We are loving our life in the country.
